Bio-Oil and Bio-Methanol Samples Ready for Application Tests

Recent progress in converting biomass waste into valuable resources is advancing sustainable energy and chemical production. Newly prepared bio-oil fractions and bio-methanol samples are now set for application testing, representing important steps toward greener alternatives.

Bio-oil fractions: Six bio-oil fractions, each at a 1 kg scale, are now ready for application tests. These bio-oil samples were produced through the pyrolysis of biomass wastes, including waste wood and waste straw. The production was carried out under the Biorizon-Interreg BIO-CAPPP project and the Biorizon-JTF-Flywheel aromatics project. These bio-oils are expected to play a significant role in sustainable energy solutions and chemical production.

Bio-methanol samples: In addition, three bio-methanol (bio-MeOH) samples, also at a 1 kg scale, are prepared for application tests. These samples were produced via the gasification of biomass wastes such as olive bagasse, waste wood, and waste straw. The production was part of the JTF-SLICE project. Bio-methanol is anticipated to be a key component in the transition to greener fuels and chemicals.

These advancements mark a significant step forward in the utilization of biomass waste for sustainable energy and chemical production. The upcoming application tests will provide valuable insights into the practical uses and benefits of these bio-based products.
